WINSTON-SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS POLICE BUILDING RENOVATION

This Interior Renovation converted the three individual spaces previously utilized by Campus Police, Campus Parking, and Vehicle Storage into a single unified facility. The design for the Campus Police Station is largely responsive to simple analysis and response to the specific required programmatic adjacencies, operational needs, and security requirements for the facility. Additionally, because the project scope is limited to the interior and window replacement, a strong effort was made to provide as much natural light as possible to the offices and other occupied spaces. A long angled feature wall organizes the programmatic elements within the building. Toilets, lockers, break area, evidence room, and other less-public spaces are located to the north of the wall where there is no opportunity for daylight into the building. Office areas have been located along the perimeter areas at the south, west, and east to provide the occupants with daylight, views, and the ability to monitor events that may be happening outside of the building.
